A use-case tier list, not a generic “best of” list. The Casa Duna team eats on this island three times a week — here’s what we actually recommend based on who you’re with.
Most “best restaurants on Yas Island” lists rank by Google rating. That’s noise. The question that matters is who are you with — kids, a date, a client, your friends — because the right restaurant depends on the use case, not the absolute quality.
This is how we triage when guests message us at 5 PM asking for tonight’s dinner.
For families with kids
Catch 22 (Yas Marina) — patio overlooks the boats and the F1 track. Kid menu, casual, fast service. Easy parking. Open earlier than most spots (kitchen from 11:30 AM). This is the move when kids are tired.
Shake Shack (Yas Mall) — when you want zero risk. AC, fast, the kids’ burger is dependable. Doesn’t feel like a “real dinner” but it’s the highest-floor restaurant in the kid-pleasing tier.
P.F. Chang’s (Yas Mall) — the lettuce wraps and the chicken satay travel well with kids. Big tables. Easy to share.
Garage at Yas Bay — American/burgers, casual, fast. Open deck so kids can run between bites. Best at sunset.
Yas Mall food court — a real solution, not a fallback. Operation Falafel, Wagamama, Texas Roadhouse, Eataly all sit in the cluster. Kids can pick. Everyone orders separately. Saves an argument.
Avoid: Hakkasan, Cipriani, La Mar, anything that requires reservations. Either dress codes or pacing that doesn’t work with under-10s.
For couples / date night
Cipriani (Yas Mall, marina-side) — proper Italian. Marina-view tables on the terrace. Bellinis. Pasta is the play, not the pizza. Book a window table 2 days ahead.
Hakkasan (W Abu Dhabi) — theatrical, expensive, worth it once. Dim sum lunch is the smarter entry point than dinner.
La Mar (Yas Bay) — Peruvian, the best ceviche on Yas, waterfront patio. Book ahead even on weekdays.
Bushra (Yas Bay) — modern Lebanese, smaller and more grown-up than the surrounding chains. Recently opened. Quiet on weeknights.
ICONS Lounge (W Abu Dhabi) — not dinner per se, but the marina-view cocktail before dinner. Sit on the boardwalk side at golden hour.
The Galliard (W Abu Dhabi) — chef’s tasting if you’re celebrating something. Reservation-only.
Quiet pick: L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele at Yas Bay. Not romantic in a candle-lit way, but the food is great and the boardwalk afterwards is the actual date.
For business or work meetings
Cipriani (Yas Mall) — predictable, professional, marina view, doesn’t move too fast. Two-hour lunch territory.
Pots Pans & Boards (Yas Mall) — upper-level terrace, marina view, comfortable lunch volume for a 3-person meeting.
Asia Asia (Yas Bay) — bigger space, group-friendly, the food is photogenic without being precious. Good for a 4–8 person team dinner.
Hunter & Barrel (Yas Bay) — meaty, masculine vibe, decent for a “let’s close this with a steak” dinner.
Catch 22 (Yas Marina) — outdoor terrace, F1 track view, the surroundings impress clients without trying. Light lunch tier.
Stills (Crowne Plaza Yas) — quiet, hotel-adjacent, no surprises. A “we just want to get through this meeting” pick.
Avoid for business: La Mar (too photogenic, hard to talk over), Hakkasan (theatrics), pub-grub spots.
For groups of friends / nights out
Garage at Yas Bay — American, big portions, low pretension, easy to seat 6+ without reservation.
Lock Stock & Barrel (Yas Bay) — pub. Drinks, sharing plates, weeknight live music sometimes. Casual.
Hunter & Barrel (Yas Bay) — louder, livelier; group-friendly.
CLAP (Yas Bay) — modern Japanese, then sticks around as a nightclub later. The progression-dinner pick.
McGettigan’s (W Abu Dhabi) — Irish pub on the marina. The post-anything spot. Easy to walk in.
Asia Asia (Yas Bay) — large, designed for groups, the menu has something for everyone in a friend cluster.
Quick eats (under AED 60 per person)
Shake Shack — Yas Mall, the W, and a kiosk at Yas Bay.
Operation Falafel — Yas Mall food court. The wraps are the move.
Allo Beirut — Yas Mall food court. Lebanese, fast, decent.
Brew Lab — Yas Mall, upper level. Coffee, sandwiches, the only proper espresso bar on the island.
Brew & Beans — canal walk in Water’s Edge. Coffee, pastries, a sit-on-the-canal kind of place.
Nando’s — at the W. Reliable quick chicken. Open late.
Carrefour deli (Yas Mall) — better than people give it credit for. Hot foods, salads, a real bakery. Useful for apartment guests stocking up.

F1 weekend warning
Every restaurant on this list books out 3–4 weeks ahead for F1 weekend Friday and Saturday nights. Don’t try to walk in. Casa Duna direct guests get help getting reservations through our network — message the team on WhatsApp two weeks before arrival and we’ll work the phones for you.
For full F1 weekend planning, see our F1 weekend planner.
Off-island worth the drive
Three places that make a 20-minute Careem worth it:
Beach Rotana Saadiyat — Saadiyat side, terrace lunch over Saadiyat Public Beach. Pair with Louvre Abu Dhabi morning.
Em Sherif (Abu Dhabi mainland, Conrad Etihad Towers) — proper Lebanese, fine-dining. Worth the trip for an anniversary.
Al Mrzab — Emirati, casual. The most authentic local food in the area. 10-minute drive from Yas, not in the tourist guides.
How we use this list
When a guest messages “where should we eat tonight, 2 adults + kids 8 and 5, near the apartment” we send: Catch 22 or Shake Shack. When they say “anniversary dinner, no kids” we send Cipriani or La Mar. When they say “client lunch, professional” we send Pots Pans & Boards.
That’s the point of a use-case tier list: stop reading “best of” rankings, start matching the restaurant to the actual dinner.
